National Drawing and Watercolor Contest 'Felipe Orlando'
The 'Felipe Orlando' National Drawing and Watercolor Contest was born in 2018 from the merger of the 'Ciudad de Benalmadena' National Watercolor Contest and the Felipe Orlando National Drawing Contest, both with a trajectory of two decades, with the aim of creating synergies for the configuration of a proposal of greater projection and attractiveness for the participants.
The fact that this contest bears the name of Felipe Orlando is nothing more than a heartfelt recognition of those people like Felipe who have helped to build a common identity, because Benalmádena has gradually become a city, a great city, thanks to references that they identify and help us to project ourselves into the future with certain horizons that are shared.
Of Mexican-Cuban origin, the figure of Felipe Orlando was of great importance for the cultural life of Malaga and for the promotion of culture in Benalmádena, the place where he decided to locate his permanent residence.
Painter, writer, anthropologist or collector, are some of the occupations that he developed throughout his life. In Benalmadena he left his printing press at the Museo de Arte Precolombino de Benalmadena Pueblo, which bears his name after him who was the soul, promoter and director.
Deadline for submission of applications: From May 31 to July 31, 2023
