Mexico became a refuge for many exiled artists since the 1920s. This situation, together with the Mexican cultural and artistic abundance, became an explosion of creativity and reception of great women artists, who despite being in the shadow of their male colleagues, were able to develop their work with interesting trajectories that only the Mexican wealth could offer them.

This conference aims to present Mexican women artists and women artists who grew their careers in Mexico, with the objective of demonstrating that all this would not have been possible in another part of the world due to the sociocultural circumstances that have occurred throughout the century.
