She was a Spanish intellectual, philosopher and essayist. Her extensive work, which included civic commitment and poetic thought, was not recognised in Spain until the last quarter of the 20th century, after a long exile. As an old woman, she received the two highest literary awards granted in Spain: the Prince of Asturias Award in 1981 and the Cervantes Award in 1988.
In collaboration with the reading clubs of the Benalmádena Libraries, as well as the Ben-Al-Arte Associations, Ateneo Libre de Benalmádena and Las Voces de los libros.
