SYNOPSIS OF THE PERFORMANCE
The play is built around a funny identity tangle in the context of the Roman villa of Benalroma, taking advantage of the historical environment to create a story that combines classic humor with an immersion in the daily life of the Roman era. Menechmo I and Menechmo II, twin brothers separated since childhood, meet in the Benalroma mill complex without knowing of the other's existence, causing a series of confusions between the characters who, not knowing the identity of both, treat them as one and the same person. The story uses this premise to explore working and social life in Benalroma, from the arduous work in the salting plants and the torcularium (pressing mills) to the sophistication of the thermal baths (balneum), which were a symbol of prestige and well-being.
