The Healthy Tapas Route

The Mayor of Benalmadena, Victor Navas, together with the director of the Costa del Sol Health District Francisco Pozo, the president of ACEB Rosa María Gonzalez, the councillor for health Alicia Laddaga, the councillor for trade Bernardo Jimenez and the directors of the health centres in Arroyo de la Miel and Torrequebrada Rosa Carabaño and Francisco Carmona, presented the third edition of the Healthy Tapas Route which will take place from the 9th until 19th of March.

This Healthy Tapas Route is a perfect example of the work carried out by the “Benalmadena Ciudad Saludable” group, an initiative which joints efforts of various municipal delegations and the Costa del Sol Sanitary District, said the Mayor.

The president of ACEB has informed that last year 31 bars and restaurants participated in this route and this year they expect to exceed 40. The registration for those establishments who wants to participate has been already open.

The aim of this Tapas Route is to encourage bars and restaurants to make tapas only with ingredients of the Mediterranean diet. The jury will consist of nutritionists and doctors from Costa del Sol Sanitary District and they will value both the selected ingredients of the tapa and the way of cooking it. The most appreciated ingredients are: olive oil, seasonal vegetables and fruits, chicken, turkey and rabbit meat, eggs, fish and seafood, nuts, wholemeal rice and pasta, iodised salt, dry garlic powder, species, and lemon.
