Tuesday 21st of March was the World Poetry Day and UNESCO chose Benalmadena as a venue of their official event for this important day. It consisted of a Giant Poem of 120 meters on Blas Infante Street in the centre of Arroyo de la Miel. Many different associations, social groups and foreign residents wrote poems in different languages during the whole day.
“Benalmadena is a multicultural place with 123 nationalities living together and this international character of our municipality was the main reason why UNESCO chose Benalmadena for this annual event. The elaboration of this Giant Poem is a living prove that many different nationalities coexist in our town in harmony, tolerance and solidarity. said the Mayor of Benalmadena, Victor Navas.
