The Mayor and Councillor for Tourism of Benalmádena, Víctor Navas, today took stock of the excellent tourist occupancy data recorded in the municipality during the summer period, which is now entering its final stages.

'According to the data provided by the Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS), Benalmádena is once again one of the main tourist destinations that attracts the most visitors during the summer months,' he began.

'We have had a hotel occupancy rate of 93.71% during the summer months, second only to Torremolinos in the province of Malaga: Benalmádena is a real driving force for the growth of employment and prosperity, and these numbers are proof of that', the mayor celebrated.

'Precisely this summer we have had the highest number of people affiliated to the Social Security, exceeding the figure of 24,000, an unprecedented figure in Benalmádena,' said Navas.

'Furthermore, the forecasts for the month of November are also the best we have had in recent years: the number of bookings has already reached 65%, and we are once again the second city in the province in terms of forecasts for the coming winter,' he stressed.

'If in summer, the period par excellence of sun and beach tourism, Benalmádena remains the second municipality in terms of occupancy; in winter, a period of deseasonalisation in which traditionally only cities like Malaga have a greater impact, our city manages to maintain a significant percentage of bookings,' stressed the mayor.

'All these data show that Benalmádena continues to be a municipality that everyone wants to visit to enjoy their free time, due to strengths such as having the highest concentration of four-star hotels on the Costa del Sol, or having a completely renovated hotel plant, and thanks to the joint effort of businessmen and local administration, and the smile and hospitality with which our neighbours receive visitors,' he said.
