Last week, the Islamic community of Benalmádena celebrated the Fiesta del Cordero, one of its major religious celebrations, which began with a prayer in the Municipal Sports Centre of Arroyo de la Miel, which Muslim families attended, and which continued in homes with a day of coexistence, with lamb as the traditional dish to taste. The mayor, Juan Antonio Lara, was there, as was the Councillor for Foreign Residents, Presi Aguilera.
'As mayor of Benalmádena, I want to express my full support and commitment to all members of the Islamic community, who are celebrating one of their great religious festivals today, based on prayer, family, and coexistence,' said Juan Antonio Lara, who expressed gratitude for the invitation to this important day.
The Councillor for Foreign Residents, for her part, has emphasised the relevance of the Islamic organisation, 'which has more than 2,000 people registered in Benalmádena.' 'One of the main objectives of this area, focused on the integration and multiculturalism of our city, is to share and enjoy the deep-rooted cultural and religious traditions of the different nationalities that coexist in Benalmádena,' stated Presi Aguilera.
